Admission Requirements at Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University

Local and foreign citizens (on a fee-for-service basis) are admitted to the Institute of Postgraduate Education (hereinafter referred to as IPE) of Samarkand State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering for research internships, basic doctoral studies (PhD) and independent research (PhD) in 16 specializations based on the relevant regulatory legal documents established in the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the “REGULATIONS on Postgraduate Education” approved by Resolution No. 304 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 22, 2017, the following definitions are provided:

•  postgraduate education – a type of education that provides training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel with a scientific degree based on basic doctoral studies, doctoral studies, and independent research, which involves in-depth study of a specialty and conducting scientific research for the purpose of preparing and defending a doctoral dissertation;

•  postgraduate education institute – a system for implementing postgraduate education in scientific organizations or educational institutions in the forms of basic doctoral studies, doctoral studies, or independent research;

•  research internship – a form of preparing a researcher for scientific and scientific-creative research in the relevant specialty without separation from production and for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (duration of study 1 year);

•  basic doctoral studies – a form of postgraduate education in the specialty of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel, organized without separation from production for researchers applying for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (duration of study 3 years);

•  independent research – a form of postgraduate education in the specialty of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel, organized without separation from production for researchers applying for the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (duration of study 3 years);

•  research intern – a person admitted to a scientific organization or educational institution for a research internship in accordance with the established procedure;

•  doctoral student – a person admitted to a scientific organization or educational institution for basic doctoral studies or doctoral studies in accordance with the established procedure;

•  independent researcher – a person admitted to a scientific organization or educational institution for independent research in accordance with the established procedure;

•  researcher – a person preparing a doctoral dissertation for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The specializations available at the Institute of Postgraduate Education at Samarkand State University of Architecture and Construction named after Mirzo Ulugbek:

ADMISSION PERIODS TO THE INSTITUTE OF POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION

Applications for Research Internships, Basic Doctoral Studies (PhD) are accepted once a year:

•  September 15th to October 15th

Applications for Independent Researchers (PhD) are accepted four times a year:

•  September 15th to October 15th

•  January 15th to February 15th

•  April 15th to May 15th

•  July 15th to August 15th

Documents are accepted through the Unified Electronic System (daraja.ilmiy.uz).

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FROM APPLICANTS

Applicants for Research Internships, Basic Doctoral Studies (PhD), and Independent Researchers (PhD) must submit the following documents:

1. Brief biographical information.

2. A copy of the diploma of a Master’s degree from a higher education institution or completion of clinical residency (for medical sciences), or a diploma of higher education (under specialist programs) – if not integrated through the electronic system.

3. A copy of the document for the State Scholarship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (if available) (for citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan).

4. Copies of published scientific works (at least 1 article and 2 abstracts).

5. Letter of recommendation from the workplace (for Independent Researchers).

6. National or equivalent international certificate of proficiency in a foreign language (at the level required by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-5117 dated May 19, 2021).

Applicants for Research Internships, Basic Doctoral Studies (PhD), and Independent Research (PhD) must submit the following documents:

1. Brief biographical information.

2. If not integrated through the electronic system, a copy of the Master’s degree diploma or completion of clinical residency (for medical sciences) from a higher education institution, or a copy of the higher education diploma (for specialist programs).

3. Copies of published scientific works (at least 1 article and 2 abstracts).

4. Letter of recommendation from the workplace (for Independent Researchers).
